100 LAB / STUDIO

Lab

Our lab is built on material experimentation. We test, manipulate, and challenge industrial elements—developing custom CNC recipes, and testing surface finishes to uncover the hidden characteristics of raw materials.

Studio

The studio is where our material findings resolve into quiet form. We balance automated precision with deliberate hand-craftsmanship, editing our laboratory data into functional objects.

Material Studies

An ongoing archive of industrial mediums. We document our material observations as a running catalog of tactile exploration.

The Folded Aluminum Incense Holder
An exercise in geometric form and functional restraint. Designed and manufactured entirely in-house by 100 Lab / Studio, this incense holder is cut and scored on an industrial CNC from premium 5052 aluminum sheet metal, then carefully folded by hand into its final shape.
The angled end tabs hold full-length incense sticks at a consistent, gentle slope, while the long horizontal basin collects falling ash.
Key Features
Integrated Storage Channel: A precise gap directly in front of the 90-degree fold creates a low-profile channel where extra incense sticks can be stacked and stored out of sight.
Curated Low-Smoke Incense: Includes a starter set of 6 premium incense sticks, carefully selected for their minimal smoke profile. Additional replacement bundles are available for purchase separately.
5052 Aluminum Alloy: Chosen for its structural durability and clean forming characteristics, providing a stable, weighted base.
Tiered Rear Spine: Milled horizontal tiers introduce subtle linear depth and catch shadows cast by the gentle smoke trail.
Subtle Sanded Finish: Hand-finished with a fine abrasive to create a clean, grain that diffuses light softly and gives the metal a refined, contemporary character.
